People ask us all the time why we prefer Webflow to other tools for building websites. This series is our answer to that question. Oh—and we don’t just prefer Webflow, we 💙 it!

Welcome to Forklift Studio’s guide on how to log in to the Webflow Editor. This guide is designed to help our clients easily access and use the Webflow Editor to make updates and changes to their websites. Follow these simple steps to get started.

Step 1: Ensure You Are Listed as an Editor

Before you can access the Webflow Editor, you need to be listed as an editor in your Webflow project’s site settings. Here’s how to check:

  1. Contact Your Site Administrator: If you’re not sure whether you’re listed as an editor, reach out to the person managing your website. This might be someone from our team or within your organization. If your are the site admin, then you can check this yourself.
  2. Verify Your Email: For site admins, navigate to Site Settings and select Site Access. Make sure your email address is correct under the Editor Access list. You may need to update your email or add a new editor. You will receive an invitation email from Webflow if you’ve been added correctly.

Step 2: Add "?edit" to the End of Your Site’s URL

Once you’re listed as an editor, accessing the Webflow Editor is simple:

  1. Open Your Web Browser: Use any web browser you prefer (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
  2. Enter Your Site’s URL: Type your website’s URL into the address bar.
  3. Add "?edit": At the end of your site’s URL, add “?edit” (without the quotes). For example, if your site’s URL is www.yoursite.com, you would enter www.yoursite.com?edit.

Step 3: Create Your Account and Password (If You Haven’t Already)

If this is your first time logging in, you will need to enter your email address and create a password:

  1. Check Your Email: Look for an email from Webflow inviting you to join as an editor.
  2. Follow the Link: Click the link in the email to go to the account creation page.
  3. Set Up Your Account: Enter your email and create a strong password. Follow any additional prompts to complete your account setup.

Step 4: Log In with Your Credentials

Now that you have your account set up, you can log in to the Webflow Editor:

  1. Enter Your Credentials: On the login page, enter your email address and password that you created. (If you already have an account but can’t remember your password you can click “Forgot It?” to reset your password.)
  2. Click Log In: Press the “Log In” button to access the Webflow Editor.
  3. Start Editing: You are now in the Webflow Editor! You can start making updates to your site as needed.
